Summer Nails Delight: Best 10 Trendy Designs to Elevate Your Look – Explore Now!

Summer is my favorite time to go all out with my Summer nails. There’s just something about the warm sun, flip-flops, and iced lemonade that makes me want to paint my nails in the boldest, brightest, or sometimes softest shades. A new coat of nail lacquer can change your mood entirely-it can take you to a beach bonfire or to a summer wedding among others. Since I am a nail art addict, I did my utmost to create 10 summer nail designs that make a statement of fun, freedom, and summer.

There are tropical nails and glamorous and you have to love this season and use the finest nail styles to inspect the aura of the season. I am providing the step-by-step instructions in order to help you re-create each of the designs at home, even not being a nail pro myself at the beginning. Get your nail polish, some snacks perhaps, and we can get going with these bright, summer nail concepts!

Tropical Paradise

Every summer, I imagine myself sitting under palm trees sipping a piña colada, and the Tropical Paradise nail design is a way to manifest those thoughts. Bright yellow nails with lush green palm leaves along with pink hibiscus flower pops look like a tropical getaway without the flight!

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Prep Time: I’m going to be honest; I start with filing my nails into a cute almond shape, which is a nice touch and makes the design pop. The next thing to do is to push back your cuticles with a wooden stick (which is much nicer than a metal stick). Finally, swipe a clear base coat over your nails to protect them and help polish with adhesion.
  • Sunny Yellow Base: You will need a nice bright yellow polish—something that yells hello sunshine! I like Essie’s “Mellow Yellow” in this case. I typically like to paint two thin coats on all the nails and allow each coat to dry before starting the next coat to prevent a streaky mess.
  • Palm Leaf Party: A nice thin nail art brush is needed, as well as a bright, vibrant green polish (OPI’s “Stay Off the Lawn” is my favourite for this). For the palm stem, paint a curved line with the green on your ring finger and your middle finger. Add little feather-like strokes to create the palm leaves. As an additional touch, you can outline each feather with a darker green polish to add some pop!
  • Hibiscus Magic: Use a hot pink polish to create hibiscus flowers on your thumb and pinky. A dotting tool is definitely your friend—make five dots in a circle for the petals and a small yellow dot in the center. I like to sneak in a few tiny white lines on the petals for some added realism.
  • Lock It Down: Complete your look by adding a shiny top coat (Seche Vite is my top choice) to seal everything and give it that juicy shine. Also, using nail glue you can place a rhinestone near one of the hibiscus for some “bling.” Grab a small brush and some acetone to clean up any smudges from your polish.

I feel as though I’m at the beach when I wear this nail design. Even if I am simply at the grocery store. Change the yellow to coral or add some more flowers for a jungle look! Whatever you decide!

Ocean Waves

The Ocean Waves nail design is my favorite when I want that serene ocean calm. The blues fade into each other and the white waves crash, with a little shimmer, and this nail look just feels like a jump into the ocean! It’s great for those days when you are dreaming of salty air.

How to Achieve It:

  • Get Your Nails Ready: Shape your nails into an oval or stiletto—they make the waves look extra flowy. Apply a clear base coat to protect your nails and make your polish last longer.
  • Blue Gradient Goodness: Apply a light blue polish (Sally Hansen has an absolutely beautiful color called Pacific Blue) on the tip of your nails and fade it out into the navy (Essie-Midnight Cami) towards the main part of the nail. You rub the colors on top of each other using a makeup sponge–two coats get that ocean-depth.
  • Wave It Out: A white polish and a skinny brush is all you need to paint some wavy line on each nail, making a feeling of waves as they travel. Also, it is all about the mixing of the drama and shape. I occasionally get an extra deepness by adding a sheer white (OPI white, Alpine Snow with a couple of drops of thinner).
  • Sparkle Like the Sea: Waves, brushed on with an iridescent glitter nail polish (ILNP has the best holographic-to-die for shades), more at the tips. it is the sunlight on the water.
  • Seal the Deal: Accent everything off with a slick coat of topcoat to give it the wet ocean look. To add a cute touch, make pictures of tiny pearls glued to the lowest point of one nail- it is like finding a seashell on the beach.

These nails make me feel like I’m floating in the sea. Do teal or toss in a starfish decal to give it a coastal trend that will be entirely your own.

Neon Brights

When I want my nails to scream “party time,” Neon Brights is where it’s at. When they are in the color of electric pink, lime green, neon orange, it is the energy of summer. This nail art is the one that is used when you have to be the most vocal in the group (not in a bad sense).

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Prep: File your nails into a short square shape—it’s clean and lets the colors shine. Apply a clear base coat, because neons can stain your nails if you skip this step.
  • Color Explosion: Paint each fingernail a distinct neon color—the pinky gets pink, the index finger gets a lime green dot, the middle finger is painted with orange, the ring finger is bright with yellow and the pinky finger ends with blue. Two strikes for that really stare-delivering illumination. I first look to China Glaze’s neon collection for these bright colors.
  • Geologic Fun: On your ring finger use striping tape to cut the nail into geometric sections. Use different neon colors and fill each one with a different color for a groovy, abstract look. It is like a tiny project painting on your nail.
  • Keep It Tall: Peel the tape before polish dries for clean lines. If your hand are wobbly like mine do get a bit like that somtimes a slight brush helps.
  • Gloss or Matte: Add a touch of glossy top coat to bring out colors. Want a trendy update, go for a matte top coat on one nail it’s a rad contrast.

Neon Brights nails are my summer festival essential. Mix the shades, or add some glitter for even extra fun—these nails are made to be seen.

Pastel Dreams

There are moments when I’m craving something soft and sweet, like Pastel Dreams nails. Composed of lavender, mint, and baby pink, these nails reflect a soft summer breeze; perfect for brunch dates or lazy picnics!

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Shaping: Shape your nails into a soft almond shape to create a feminine look. Use a clear base coat to protect your nails.
  • Pastels Galore: Use a different pastel color on each nail (I used lavender on the thumb, mint on the index finger, pink on the middle finger, peach on the ring, and baby blue on the pinky). I like to use two thin coats for a creamy dreamy color. I also really like Zoya’s pastels because they have a smooth finish.
  • Dainty Dots: Using a white nail polish and a dotting tool, use a contrasting pastel color to create tiny dots on your ring finger (mint over pink is super cute).
  • Keep it simple; it will add a cute minimalist look. Matte Finish: I love a matte top coat. I used the Essie “Matte About You” top coat to create a perfect velvety-pressed powder finish. The matte finish makes the pastels feel especially soft.
  • Subtle Sparkle: Add one rhinestone or pearl (also available in pastel shades) at the base of one of your nails for a bit of elegance. Or, brush on a sheer shimmer polish for a little sprinkle of magic.

Pastel Dreams nails can be combined with anything from a sundress or party outfit to jeans. Play with a gradient or use different pastels that you love to create your unique look.

Geometric Glitz

For an edgy, modern look, Geometric Glitz nails are my jam. This nail design combines sharp angles, bold shapes, and metallic accents for a look that’s both structured and glitzy—perfect for summer nights out.

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Prep: Shape your nails into a stiletto or coffin shape for drama. Use clean base coat to get a nice canvas.
  • Neutral Base: Paint all nails with a nude or light gray polish (OPI’s “Samoan Sand” is perfect) to let the geometric patterns shine. Two full coats.
  • Geometric Shapes: To get the visibly good lines, apply striping tape and then apply either the triangular or chevron shape around the index and ring fingers using metallic shade of gold or silver polish. Take off the tape to have crisp edges.
  • Grid Accent: Apply thin line of black polish on the middle finger with a thin brush and make a grid. Fill parts of it with metallic polish to give the bold contrasting effect.
  • Glossy Shine: Top it off with a top coat that is glossy to bring out the metallic shine. Put some glitz on one of the nails by inserting a metallic stud in the nail.

These nails are perfect for art gallery dates or rooftop cocktails. Change it up and go with rose gold or chrome.

Fruit Fiesta

The Fruit Fiesta nail design is like a summer market on your nails. Watermelons, pineapples, strawberries – these vibrant motifs are so fun and playful, perfect for picnics and BBQs.

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Prep: File your nails into a rounded square shape for that cute finish. Put on a layer of clear base coat.
  • Fruity Bases: Paint the thumb and pinky red for strawberries, the index and middle fingers yellow for pineapples, and the ring finger green for watermelon. Two coats will provide maximum vibrancy.
  • Fruit Details: Use your thin brush to add details like the dark green rind with white stripes and black seeds for watermelon. Black crisscross lines on the juicy yellow pineapples. Finally, yellow seeds, plus green with strawberries.
  • Juicy Sparkle: To finish off the pineapple nails, add a glitter top coat to give your nails that juicy shine. Born Pretty’s glitters are wonderful.
  • Seal It: Add a glossy top coat to lock in your colors and allow them to pop. Clean up smudges with a brush and some acetone.

Fruit Fiesta nails are tons of fun for summer gatherings. Add some lemons or kiwis for an extra fruity effect!

Floral Fancy

Floral nails are what I always choose for summer to get that romantic garden-party feel. This Floral Fancy design has soft flowers in pinks, whites, greens etc – it works great for weddings or bright sunny afternoons.

How to Achieve It:

  • Shape and Prep: File your nails into an oval for elegance. Apply a clear base coat.
  • Soft Base: Paint all nails with a soft pink or nude polish (Essie’s “Ballet Slippers” is a classic). Two coats for smoothness.
  • Delicate Flowers: On the ring and middle fingers, use a white polish and a thin brush to paint small flowers with five petals. Add green leaves and a yellow dot in the center.
  • Big Bloom: On the thumb, create a larger flower with layered petals in light purple for a focal point.
  • Glossy Finish: Seal with a glossy top coat. Add a rhinestone near one flower for sparkle.

These Floral Fancy nails are so romantic, and you can totally use other flowers like roses or daisies for a different floral feel.

Glitter Glam

The next time I want to sparkle, I will go with Glitter Glam nails! This nail look is all about holographic glitter and statement accents; it is perfect for a festival or night out.

How to Achieve It:

  • Appearance: For maximum impact, shape your nails into a stiletto shape. Apply a clear base coat
  • Base: Paint all fingernails with either black or navy polish. I usually do two coats to make it more opaque.
  • Glitter Gradient: Apply a holographic glitter polish (ILNP’s “Mega” is an absolutely stunning color), making sure you go heavier on the tips. Sponging the glitter on will add a denser sparkle.
  • Rhinestones: Take your ring finger and, using unapologetic amounts of glue, apply a cluster of rhinestones at the base in a starburst-like shape.
  • Shine: Finally, seal with a glossy top coat to amplify the sparkle even more. Be extra generous with the top coat around the base of your rhinestones to keep them in place.

Glitter Glam nails are the ultimate sparkle. If you want to change it up, swap out the holographic polish for silver or gold!

Sunset Skies

The Sunset Skies nail design recreates the warm glow of a summer sunset with nice oranges, pinks and purples. These nails are some of my favorite for romantic evenings or beach sunsets.

How to Achieve It:

  • Nail Prep: Shape your nails into a soft almond, and apply a clear coat base.
  • Sunset Gradient: Get the orange, pink and purple polish onto a makeup sponge, and dab them on the nail to create a smooth gradient between the three colors. I usually do two layers of nail polish to keep it vibrant.
  • Silhouette Accent: Since we are recreating a sunset, we need something on the ring finger to keep it fun. I painted a palm tree silhouette in black, and to add to the whimsy, I painted a tiny bird in the sky.
  • Golden Glow: To give the nails a golden glow, I lightly poured a gold glitter polish across all nails, and made sure to apply more on the tips.
  • Glossy Finish: I sealed it with the glossy top coat, and for a little accent, I threw in a gold foil flake to keep the warmth.

These nails are perfect for date nights! You could even try them with shades of red or yellows to keep them unique from a standard sunset.

Boho Chic

Boho Chic nails bring free-spirited vibes with earthy tones, feathers, and turquoise accents. I would choose such nail design at festivals or simply during cool summer days.

How to Achieve It:

  • Shape and Prep: File your nails into a rounded square. Apply a clear starter coat.
  • Earthy Bases: Terracotta the pinky and thumb, middle and index beige and the ring finger turquoise. Two coats apiece.
  • Feather Accent: To give the illusions of texture, use paint on the ring finger with edges of black and white creating a white feather.
  • Boho Details: Add turquoise dots or arrows on the beige nails with a dotting tool.
  • Matte Finish: Cover with a matte top coat. Stick on a metal stud to give a hint of glimmer.

Boho Chic nails are effortlessly cool. Use dreamcatchers or mandalas to have more boho flair.

Tips to Keep Your Nails Poppin’

  • Moisturize: Cuticle oil moisturizes your nails and keep them hydrated.
  • Quality Stuff: Good polishes and top coats will minimize chipping.
  • Protect: Use gloves while chores to protect your nail art.
  • Touch Ups: Keep a top coat with you for quick fixes.
  • Cool Water: Hot water can ruin polish, so use lukewarm.
